Asian Eyelid Surgery Blepharoplasty

Asian Eyelid Surgery Blepharoplasty

To numb the upper eyelid during the surgical procedure, the area will be injected with a medication such as xylocaine or lidocaine, and topical tetracaine will be placed on the white part of the eye. This is done so that during the procedure patients can expect no pain. Double eyelid surgery is for placing a crease in typically Asian patients that don't possess a crease. It is not typically a Westernization procedure as popularized in the original article dated 1955 by Ralph Millard.
On the functional side, it can be used to improve sight in older  people where the sagging upper eyelid is causing vision problems. With a wide range of breast, body, and face procedures, our goal at Wave Plastic Surgery is to allow for all of our patients to achieve their ideal appearance, no matter their age or ethnicity. We work with 割双眼皮 all sorts of men and women—both local to the Los Angeles area and from far out of town—to help find the right procedure to help them reach their goals. Double eyelid surgery is a fairly common procedure done in Asians. It not only gives the eyes a younger and brighter look but also treats sagging eyelids leading to better vision.

The surgery involves making an incision in the crease of the upper eyelid or below the lashes in the lower eyelid, removing excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat, and then suturing the incision closed. It’s usually an outpatient procedure, meaning patients can go home the same day. On the other hand, incisional double eyelid surgery usually takes around 1 hour. However, the duration can increase further if both eyelids are operated on in the same treatment session or if a lot of redundant skin needs to be removed. This method is ideal for patients that do not have excess fat or skin in their eyelids. The main advantage is the absence of an incisional scar and minimal to absent swelling.
In extremely rare cases, eyelid reduction surgery can lead to blindness. Smoking, pre-existing eye disease, straining, lifting and coughing can add to this risk. Eyelid reduction surgery is a highly individualised procedure and may not be suitable for everyone. Always talk to your Specialist Plastic Surgeon before making a decision. Your surgeon will assess your condition and general health, and plan the treatment that is best suited to you.

For best results, it is important that you follow all of Dr Anh’s post-operative instructions carefully. The Asian double-eyelid reduction technique reduces the epicanthal fold and enhances the eyelid crease. The upper lid crease can be obscured by fat that descends over it, creating the illusion of droopy eyes . Thicker fat pads in the eye area can also lend the eyes a ‘puffy’ appearance. The entire procedure may take anywhere between one and a half to two and half hours, depending on which techniques your surgery involves. Since blepharoplasty is a day-hospital procedure, you will be allowed to return home immediately after your procedure to begin your recovery. During the procedure, Dr Anh will make an incision along your new eyelid fold and lift the skin to create your new eye shape. Anchor sutures are then used to close the incisions and hold the new eyelid in place. A thorough and detailed consultation process will consider your concerns, desired look, and facial anatomy to provide you with the optimal result. Eyelid surgery can address both upper and lower eyelid issues, including under-eye puffiness.

This procedure is performed on men and women who are in good overall physical health. Patients should also be non-smokers or be committed to quitting before the procedure is performed. Face masks are here to stay, which means more of a focus on our peepers than our pouts. So, when it comes to aesthetic medicine, will eyes be the new lips? "Many people are just  born with ‘slanted eyes’ and there is nothing wrong with that."
This is a natural trait of many Asian eyes and is known as a ‘Single Eyelid’ or Monolid. Asian blepharoplasty is similar to a standard eyelid lift, both in the methods used, and in the outcomes achieved. The subtle difference between the two procedures comes from the differing anatomical eyelid structure of some Asian patients. Dr Choy and his team will assess these factors and your desired outcomes during a consultation, before outlining a plan for the Asian eyelid surgery procedure.
